Shower Valve Repair & Replacement in San Antonio
Most shower valve problems come from a worn cartridge, a failing diverter or mineral buildup, and a cartridge swap often fixes it without opening the wall. If the valve needs replacing, we explain the options before any demolition.

What’s happening with your shower valve repair?
Tap the closest match for a quick plain-English read and your next step. It is a guide, not a diagnosis.
Signs of a Faulty Shower Valve
Dripping after shutoff, handles that are stiff or loose, temperature that will not stay put, or low pressure only in the shower all point to the valve or cartridge.
Leaking Shower Valve Repairs
Leaks can come from the cartridge, valve body or fittings behind the wall. We find the source before cutting and tell you what access is required.
Shower Cartridge Replacement
Many valves use replaceable cartridges. We match the brand and model and replace it without replacing the whole valve when possible.
Shower Diverter Problems
When water comes from both the tub spout and showerhead, or will not switch, the diverter is worn. We replace diverters and tub spouts.
Water Temperature and Pressure Issues
Temperature swings and weak flow can be valve, water heater or pressure issues. We diagnose which, so you do not pay for the wrong repair. See Water Pressure Repair if the whole house is affected.
Shower Valve Replacement
When the valve body is corroded or leaking, replacement may require an access panel or opening the wall. We explain scope and cost first and recommend an access panel for future repairs.

- Honest repair vs replace. We show you the failed part and both options.
- Checkable credentials. Ask for our license number and verify it at tsbpe.texas.gov.

Shower Valve Repair FAQs
Why does my shower drip when turned off?
The cartridge or seals inside the valve are worn, so water leaks past even when the handle is closed. Replacing the cartridge usually fixes it.
Why does my shower temperature fluctuate?
A worn pressure-balancing cartridge can no longer adjust to pressure changes, such as when another fixture is used. It can also be a water heater issue, which we check.
Can the shower cartridge be replaced without replacing the entire valve?
Usually yes. If the valve body is intact, we replace just the cartridge, which is faster and less costly. Replacement of the full valve is only needed when the body is damaged.
Will you have to cut my wall or tile?
Only if the valve body must be replaced or the leak is behind the wall. We explain this before starting and wait for your approval.
